45 Diablo III: Eternal Collection

With the arrival of the Nintendo Switch, the way was suddenly clear for PC ports. Diablo III is a successful PC port that perfectly suits the portable aspect of the Nintendo Switch. The Eternal Collection also included all the DLC available so far. So you get a very complete game with hundreds of hours of gameplay. Diablo is a true hack 'n' slash game set in the underworld. To truly progress, you choose one of seven classes and enter combat. Whether you do this alone or in a group is up to you. Diablo seems endless, but it's all about defeating increasingly powerful demons. This is only possible if you also become stronger and upgrade. This happens almost automatically up to the next level. After that, you level up in Paragon levels. After completing the story, you can unleash the adventure mode to find even more powerful weapons and gear.

Best version of Diablo?

What is the best main version of Diablo?

You can also play seasons in this version. You do need an internet connection for this. During a season, levels are overhauled and new content is added here and there. Interesting stuff for the die-hard gamer.

Speaking of the die-hards. This game's resolution is a bit lower than the PC version, but it runs super smoothly at 60 fps. All in all, a package that has become a must-have, whether playing solo, locally at home, or online.

44 The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

Not your average Zelda game

Any gamer knows that in Zelda games, you don't play as Zelda, but as Link. Surprise! In this game, you do play as Zelda. Okay, maybe not at first, but that changes pretty quickly. And as Zelda, you play differently than you're used to. Sounds disappointing, and it might be for those used to Zelda games revolving around direct action and defeating evil. This game has become much more of a puzzle game, but a remarkably good one. You control Zelda with a magic wand that can copy elements. These are called echo objects in the game. With these copies, you can progress through the game and even defeat bosses. For example, by stacking beds into a staircase to reach higher levels. But you can also clone enemies and have them attack other enemies. There are hundreds of objects you can use as echo objects. Because of the sheer variety, you, as a player, have real freedom to make choices. This game stimulates your imagination in every way to overcome obstacles. Every puzzle can be solved in dozens of ways. Who knows, you might even find a solution the creators hadn't even thought of.

Besides solving the presented challenges and puzzles, you'll also discover more and more about the world and its inhabitants. You'll discover various villages in diverse environments. You can imagine that a village in the jungle is completely different from one in the desert, or in a vast expanse of water. Each village has its own way of life and challenges. You'll often be asked to help.

That freedom, combined with the fantastic graphics, makes this a very fun and playful game. And let's be honest, there are few Zelda games we wouldn't recommend.

43 Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

A paper game

Paper Mario has been around since the N64. The series' hallmark is that the look and feel of the game makes you believe you're playing in a paper world. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is a remake of the GameCube title. This title is generally considered the best Paper Mario. In this game, you and Mario and his companions embark on a crazy adventure, navigating original areas and encountering a wealth of distinctive characters. You progress through a story with diverse elements, including solving an important case on a train, a pirate harbor town with its story, a battle for a world title, a battle with a dragon, and an opera singer. This diversity ensures that this game consistently surprises in its approach. The ultimate goal, however, is unsurprising: you must rescue the princess. She's been kidnapped by an alien race called X-Nauts.

The remake is a success, as the graphics are more beautiful than ever before. So we understand why some people consider this the best video game ever. The game is timeless and fantastic. So why so slow? The Nintendo Switch port is incredibly good graphically, but the game's speed seems slower. And in modern games, we're used to speed. It doesn't detract from the story, but the slower pace does make you more likely to give up. Don't, because the game is 100% worth your time.

With an average playtime of over 30 hours, you'll be busy for a while. If you really want to complete everything to the fullest, you'll be busy for at least 55 hours.

42 Metroid Dread

Metroid invented an entire genre: the search for upgrades to overcome previously encountered obstacles. For example, scoring an item that allows you to break a specific type of stone. Metroid is the founder of the so-called Metroidvania genre, which began on the NES in 2D. On the Switch, the game is finally back on consoles in 2D. The title is also no stranger, as the name Metroid Dread was already circulating back in the days of the Nintendo DS. So it's great that we finally received this title, and it certainly doesn't disappoint. This game is fast-paced and packed with action. A good Metroid also knows how to bring back the tension and darkness. Dread does just that. The choice to make this game 2D allows for more space for lighting, sound, and especially atmosphere. Fire looks truly good, and it illuminates that thrilling darkness beautifully. While hunting was a core part of the gameplay in Metroid Fusion, you see this reflected in Dread as well: fast-paced and frenetic, encounters with the E.M.M.I., in particular, are truly thrilling. These research robots are terrifying. Their presence, their way of moving (sometimes on all fours), and their ability to fit through even the smallest spaces will have you on the edge of your seat. See visible scans and the music kicks in? Get out of here. If an E.M.M.I. grabs you, you probably won't survive. Do you manage to counter the attacks? You'll feel a sense of pride you don't often experience.

Because the game is a true Metroid at its core, you'll have to explore. And exploring and E.M.M.I. together create that immense tension. Did we mention the boss fights? They are aaaaand insane. With graphics that pop off the screen and gameplay that keeps you fully engaged, all in a package that runs incredibly smoothly. Well, you'll want to play this game.

41 Stardew Valley

Take it easy... that's the message of this game. You inherit a farm (from your grandfather) that needs maintenance, and it's up to you to bravely pick up the farming life in the town of Stardew Valley. Stardew Valley immediately gives you freedom. You get some seeds to plant, see that your farm and land need maintenance, and the villagers look interesting too. What you tackle first is entirely up to you. This also applies, of course, to your next steps. Stardew Valley is different for everyone. If you go all out growing vegetables, etc., you'll have to sell your crops and buy new seeds. But that's not the only way to earn money, of course. Go fishing, for example; that's also an option!

With your money, you can take the next step and take your farm to the next level. For example, by building stables, and the animals in those stables will naturally earn you money. Besides these models and freedoms, you can also craft in this game. By crafting, we mean you can create your own products. For this, you'll need raw materials. You can find, buy, and even craft these. To find them, you'll have to enter the Stardew Valley mines. This is where the action truly begins. These mines are home to monsters that are hungry for a bite to eat. Therefore, it's important to craft or buy weapons to be able to withstand them.

Besides these sources of income, there are social aspects to improve the Stardew Valley community, including fashion shows and love. The social aspect extends far, as issues like grief, alcohol abuse, mothers-in-law, and so on are all addressed.

In short, you create your own daily schedule and fill it with joy. Before you know it, you'll be in a good rhythm. Under the motto: "Anything goes, nothing is required."
